Born and bred in the sunshine city of Harare, Zimbabwe, Makanaka still does not know how to use Fahrenheit, and probably never will. Even if she can’t tell you how hot it is, she’s ready to help you prepare for the Cambridge winter- ask her all your weather-related questions! Makanaka was once described by a close friend as “the most serious and ridiculous” person she’d ever met and wears that title with pride. She is passionate about politics and diplomacy and hopes to go to law school after college. Makanaka is currently pursuing a double in Government and Economics, with a citation in French. In her spare time, she enjoys taking spontaneous walks by the river, period dramas, and making people laugh when they are desperately trying to work. On campus, Makanaka is a staff writer for The Crimson News Board, works as a student assistant in Cabot Library, and practices archery to scare away potential enemies. Feel free to call her Makanaka, Maka, or Maxi; ) She can’t wait to welcome the class of 2027 to campus this summer!
